The job had the following hazardous materials abated and removed: asbestos fireproofing and thermal insulation throughout the building inside the walls and ceilings. There was also asbestos flooring which included the removal of pavers to access an asbestos waterproofing material. The building itself was very abstract with elevated ceilings and high exterior chimney-like shafts that extended beyond the roof line. Other hazardous materials included: mercury, lead, PCB’s and chemical waste. Bayview Environmental Services, Inc. was responsible for securing all of the utilities to the building and installing temporary power for the abatement. Also, we performed exterior grading to install a road for the truck route along with a washing station to control mud and debris from being carried onto the surrounding roads and streets. Bayview Environmental Services, Inc. enclosed the entire building by installing a scaffold around the perimeter of the building and interior courtyard and then wrapped the scaffold with shrink-wrap to contain the building hazards. Bayview Environmental Services, Inc. fully contained each floor utilizing negative air, personal decontamination chambers and offload chambers. We staggered our crews into separate floors where each crew completed one floor at a time. In the end all ACM material was bagged and placed into closed topped 40 yard bins and disposed of properly along with all other hazardous material.
